Almighty Hearts is a family, faith based, senior living focused non-profit organization, dedicated to serving the care needs of seniors, and their families. Almighty Hearts endeavors to provide quality care information with compassion, love, empathy, and dignity. We are committed to honoring God through our service to the elderly within our community.
In 2006, I had a long conversation with my husband Dennis to discuss having my mother move in with us and how it would affect our current lives. We decided to move my mother from Houston, Texas back to Grand Rapids, Michigan and become her caregivers.
A year later, after recognizing the need for dignified quality care for elders, I made the decision to return to school and attained a Certified Nurse Assistant state license. For the next four years, I worked for a large company at one of their skilled nursing facilities. In my time there, I cared for seniors with many different physical and emotional disabilities. From patients who were recuperating from surgery, to patients who were admitted to long-term care for Dementia/Alzheimer’s and everything you can imagine in between. As a Certified Nurse Assistant, a large portion of the work was centered on assisting with activities of daily living (feeding, bathing, dressing, and transporting, etc.).
In 2010, I founded the organization Almighty Hearts, which stands for the Humane, Ethical, Assistance, and Respect Towards Seniors. Our mission is to provide information, and assist families caring for loved ones and their caregivers. Our ultimate goal is to one day open our own Assistant Living Center where the standard of care is the primary focus.
